Nīkau has been scoring films since high school, and has built up a portfolio of colourful and diverse works over the years. His personal style for film scoring carries a strong focus on symmetry, a colourful timbral pallet, and robust dialogue with directors and writers to ensure total aesthetic and emotional harmony with the picture. Nīkau is equally as comfortable with avant-garde acousmatic scoring as working with contemporary orchestras and sample libraries.
